Blockbuster 'Empuraan' to be re-released with 17 cuts

KOCHI: In response to increasing cyber-attacks and yielding to pressure from Sangh Parivar outfits including Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its political wing Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP) filmmakers of blockbuster Malayalam movie Empuraan have decided to edit the film to accommodate concerns expressed by critics and re-release on Wednesday, according to reports.
The re-censored version of the Prithviraj-Mohanlal movie, that broke earlier records in initial collection in India and abroad, will hit theatres on Wednesday.
Director Prithviraj and the film producers, including Ashirvad Cinemas and Gokulam Gopalan, decided to submit the newly edited version of the film to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
