UAE University to launch satellite ‘813’

Design, assembly, integration and testing conducted in NSSTC laboratories

UAE University (UAEU) has completed preparations for the launch of satellite ‘813’ in the last quarter of this year.

Named ‘813’ after the Hijri year marking the establishment of Baghdad’s House of Wisdom, the satellite weighs around 200kg and falls in the small-to-medium satellite category. It will be launched into a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 550-650km, enabling it to perform high-efficiency Earth observation missions.

The satellite has been developed by the university’s National Space Science and Technology Centre (NSSTC) as part of a programme designed in collaboration with partners in the space sector.
