UAE launches satellite on SpaceX rocket

FIRST PLATFORM DEVELOPED UNDER THE PAYLOAD HOSTING INITIATIVE
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) in Dubai yesterday announced the successful launch of PHI-1, the first modular satellite platform developed under the Payload Hosting Initiative (PHI), in partnership with the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and its global initiative, Access to Space for All.
The satellite lifted off at 10.44pm (UAE time) on Friday aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA, marking a major step forward in the UAE's efforts to broaden participation in space science, research and technology.
