Blood donation drive started by 3 Indians in 2015 has grown into a community network

What began as a simple idea to spread awareness about blood donation by a group of Indian expats in Dubai 10 years ago has grown into a life-saving mission that has saved more than 25,000 lives.

Shihab Theruvath, Anwar Wayanad and Salam Kanyappady founded the Kindness Blood Donation Team in 2015 to spread awareness and organise convenient donation drives across the city.

“We realised that many people didn’t know how many lives they can save, or didn’t know where or how to do it regularly,” said Shihab Theruvath, who works in Dubai’s health sector.
