Over 350 Filipino cyclists join Kalayaan Ride to mark 127th Independence Day

That began as a casual coffee shop conversation between two Filipino cyclists turned into a powerful display of unity, patriotism, and community spirit on June 7.

Over 350 Filipino cyclists from more than 45 teams across the UAE converged at Al Qudra Cycling Track for the very first Kalayaan Ride, a dynamic prelude to the 127th Philippine Independence Day.

Organised by Erwin Gutierrez, Arby Intal, and the 63. Mafia Cycling Team, the event united the Filipino cycling community during the Eid Al Adha holiday.

"We wanted to celebrate our freedom in a way that reflects who we are today — resilient, active, and united," said Gutierrez. "And cycling has become a huge part of the Filipino lifestyle here in the UAE."
