EU, Pakistan, urge Afghan action against terror groups

Pakistan and the European Union yesterday urged Afghanistan’s Taliban authorities to act against terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil and to guarantee the protection of human rights, particularly those of women and girls.

The call came during the seventh Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue held in Brussels, co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.

A joint statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office said both sides discussed Islamabad's strained ties with Kabul following recent cross-border tensions.
