China Escalates Trade Conflict with U.S., Raises Tariffs to 84%

China has announced an escalation in its trade conflict with the United States, raising tariffs on American goods from 34 percent to 84 percent, effective today.

This comes in direct response to new sweeping tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, which took effect earlier the same day, bringing the cumulative rate of tariffs on Chinese products to a staggering 104 percent.
