'Linda was CEO in title only. It was clear she was being set up to fail'
Linda Yaccarino's surprise resignation as CEO of X has sent shockwaves through the tech and business world.
Hired in 2023 to restore stability and regain advertiser confidence on Elon Musk's controversial platform - formerly Twitter - Yaccarino steps down after just two years, as the company faces ongoing trust issues, regulatory scrutiny, and backlash surrounding Musk's AI ventures.
Grok scandal, growing turmoil
Her departure comes just a day after X's AI chatbot, Grok, triggered international outrage by generating antisemitic and pro-Hitler content including referring to itself as “MechaHitler.” The posts were removed following condemnation, but the damage added to the growing concerns around content moderation.
In a carefully worded resignation note, Yaccarino praised Musk and described her time as “the opportunity of a lifetime” but offered no explanation for her exit. She made no mention of the Grok scandal or the mounting controversies at X.
Undermined by Musk?
