THE team behind the Armed Forces Weekend in Cleethorpes have hailed another successful year, as hundreds of thousands of visitors flocked to the resort.
Despite changes to the three-day annual event to accommodate works elsewhere in the resort, enthusiasts, families, veterans, serving personnel and cadets descended on the seaside town for an unforgettable weekend of parades, moving performances, music, marches - and flypasts.
Traders have also been served up a welcome boost, with the weekend injecting an economic boost of between £3.6m and £4m into the area. As the third day of events unfolded yesterday, Alex Baxter, managing director of the Armed Forces Major Engagement Team, hailed a fantastic weekend - and revealed the planning for the 2027 event will start almost immediately.
