GRIMSBY COUPLE'S DONATION DRIVE
A FOOD bank so low on donations that volunteers had to split bags of pasta between families has been boosted by a bumper donation.
The Rock Community Hub in Garibaldi Street was "absolutely desperate" for nonperishable food and hygiene products.
Thanks to a donation drive in the community, spearheaded by Grimsby couple Vickie and Samm Fletcher, £1,700 worth of donations were delivered in a van on Friday. Vickie previously spoke of how she'd had to sell her belongings to afford food during a tough patch.
She said she felt "absolutely over the moon" with how well the collections had gone. She said: "It wasn't just myself and my husband Samm, it was a massive community effort."
