EFT-ARM spinner Lewis Golds- worthy claimed career-best fig- ures of 4-13 as Somerset gained revenge for defeat by arch-rivals Gloucestershire in last year's Vitality Blast with a six-wicket South Group vic- tory at Bristol.

Gold-en spell Spinner Lewis puts the skids under Gloucestershire

A derby crowd of more than 6,000 saw the hosts post a disappointing 135-7 after losing the toss, skipper Jack Taylor top-scoring with 43 not out from 29 balls, Goldsworthy taking three wickets in an over to rip the heart of the Gloucestershire batting.

It looked a straightforward target for the unbeaten group leaders and they duly made it look easy, Will Smeed scoring 51 not out as they reached 137-4 with 14 balls to spare.

Gloucestershire skipper Taylor said: “We were short with the bat.

“They bowled really well, but in hindsight 150 or 160 would have made ita different game.

“The feedback from our openers was that it was quite a tricky pitch and we felt if we could get to 160 we always back ourselves to squeeze the opposition,

“We just couldn't gain any momentum and that has been a theme in the competition so far. It's disappointing and something we need to put right”
