Education officials take on 'Amazing Race' challenge

The dedicated curriculum support officials of the Eden and Central Karoo Education District, known for standing firmly behind the teachers they serve, swopped their laptops for takkies and training manuals for clues as they took on an Amazing Race-style challenge across George on Friday 20 June.

The race formed part of a wellness and team-building initiative aimed at promoting unity, fun and mental resilience.

Clothed in fun, creative team outfits, groups such as the Nap Queens and Snore Lords, the Golden Oldies, Business Unusual, the WILDcards, Camouflage and Confusion and Ctrl+Alt+Elite brought their competitive spirit and good humour to the starting line at the district office in York Street.

The teams had to decipher the clues along the route to find a total of 10 checkpoints. At each checkpoint, hosted by a business or organisation, they had to complete a task or challenge.

At the first stop, CEI IT Helpdesk Services, each team had to crack an encrypted password before they were handed their next clue. From there, the route led them to Deacon House, where they were quizzed on how well they really know their colleagues. A true test of connection and memory.
