Walking opens up array of social and medical benefits

Foot Trails, an award-winning self-guided walking company located in Frome, has created 'King Arthur's Trail' in South Somerset and 'Wild Coast and Wild Moor' in North West Somerset using knowledge of local footpaths, villages, towns and historic sites.

Both trails are likely to attract guests from around the world to Somerset, including from the USA and Canada.

Guests walk at 2mph, away from crowds and immerse themselves in the scenery and landscapes of rural Somerset with luggage transfers and transport drop-offs included.

One unique aspect of the trips is the way guests find their way.

Rather than digital maps on phones, guests and travellers are provided with robust, waterproof trail cards, which provide step by step directions in word form.

They are also provided with tactile maps, also printed on waterproof paper.

Each day of the Foot Trail is designed to be a mini adventure, away from the modern world.

Guests of 'King Arthur's Trail' will enjoy Glastonbury Tor, Cadbury hill fort, Glastonbury Abbey and a cider farm whilst guests of 'Wild Coast and Wild Moor' will enjoy Porlock, the Doone Valley, Lynmouth and the moor.
