Trio depart Robins as rebuild begins
Frome Standard
|May 15, 2025
Frome Town have announced the departures of James Ollis, Joe O'Loughlin and Ethan Vaughan for the 2025/26 season.
-
The Robins are looking to rebuild following their relegation at the first attempt from the Southern League Premier Division South and the club has offered its thanks for the trio's services.
Ollis is looking to remain at Step 3 and finishes a five-year stint at Badgers Hill with 166 appearances and 64 goals for Frome.
Having commuted from London to play for the Robins, O’Loughlin has called time on his third stint at the club, having amassed 14 goals in 152 appearances. Vaughan, named Frome’s Young Player of the Year this season, is looking to play full-time further up the pyramid.
Manager Danny Greaves said: “Ollis joined the club ahead of the 2020-21 season. Five years on he has developed into a top forward at this level. His performance and his goals in the 2023-24 season, alongside Kane Simpson, Jon Davies, and Sam Meakes, resulted in promotion, one of the best days in the club's recent history, and will always be remembered. We thank him and wish him well for the future.
“We always knew Ethan would be a short-term signing due to his aspirations to get back into full-time football in the near future. I think it was a move which has certainly benefited both parties. His performance levels were top-notch and he always conducted himself well. He is a great lad, and he hopes he goes on and achieves everything he wants to in the game.
“Joe will be moving on for a third time. As many will know, Joe relocated to London part way through last season, but showed true commitment in continuing to commute to the club for training and matches in our bid for survival. That was never sustainable, and he moves on with our best wishes.
“Once Joe recovered his fitness, his form in the second half of the season was second to none, and it is a shame that it was not enough to see us survive. We wish Joe luck with his new job and his football moving forward”
