Nunney Parish Council has been helping to improve the health and wellness of the local community after receiving an award of £5,000.

The council has been offering multiple community activities, including a successful trial of fitness bootcamps over the summer, thanks to the Somerset Association of Local Councils (SALC) grant.

Councillor Julie Lane has been organising these events with the shared programming and teaching of each event by local husband and wife personal training duo Beth Johnson and Theo Sackett. Julie and her husband, Darren Gerry have assisted with this.

Each session went from strength to strength as the locals, ranging in age from 16 to 80, gained confidence in trying new and challenging exercises and equipment that was purchased with the grant.

Beth, of Iron Lion Gymnasium in Frome, orchestrated fun group fitness sessions that included battle ropes, TRX suspension training, resistance bands, booty bands, smash balls and kick boxing skip ropes, pads and gloves.

Beth said: “Teaching group exercise to our local community has been such a joy.
