Rajasthan's 6 iconic festivals, Pushkar Camel Fair, Desert Festival, Teej, Gangaur, Mewar Festival & RIFF, have evolved from local traditions to global sensations. Blending heritage with modern flair!
Rajasthan, the land of kings, known for its rich culture, vibrant traditions, and grand celebrations, has several historical festivals. Over the years, the celebration has not only survived but also transformed to reflect changing times, modern sensibilities, and global interest.
Every iconic pocket of Rajasthan seems to have its own seasonal festival. From the globally renowned Rajasthan International Folk Festival in Jodhpur, Jaipur Literature Festival in the pink city, to the highlight of India's electronic music calendar — Magnetic Fields, the Udaipur World Music Festival in the lake city, the independent music festival Ragasthan in the desert of Jaisalmer, amongst many more. However, certain Rajasthan festivals gain significant attention on social media, with users enthusiastically sharing photos and updates, and people just can't stop talking about them. These six iconic festivals of Rajasthan have not only evolved significantly over the years but also have a profound impact on the lives of every Rajasthani.
PUSHKAR CAMEL FAIR
It was once a traditional camel trading fair in India, and now it has transformed into a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors from all over the world. While the camel trading still happens, the fair now features folk music, hot air balloon rides, cultural performances like folk music concerts, art exhibitions, competitions like “longest moustache” and “turban tying,” and even a global photography contest.
