INDIAN RAILWAYS ON Sunday announced hikes in passenger fares for AC coaches and non-AC passengers on Mail and Express trains by 2 paise per kilometre.
The price for train tickets for ordinary class travel has also been increased by 1 paisa for every kilometre of travel beyond 215 km.
Additionally, for a 500 km journey in non-AC coaches, passengers will have to pay only ₹10 extra. These fare changes will be effective from December 26, and will help railways garner about ₹600 crore of extra revenues in the current financial year, the railway ministry said.
