Pharma firms flag export risks from new compliance rules

INDIAN PHARMA EXPORTERS is likely to lose business if the recent circular issued by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) which mandates that the applications to get WHO-GMP (good manufacturing practices) certificates will be processed only through its online portal, the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India said on Friday.
The council said while it supports the modernisation of process, pharma exports may face disruptions, particularly in key markets such as Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific and Latin America where the government agencies require WHO-GMP certification to export drugs.
