GCC nations cede ground as US, UK and Canada gain
KERALA'S SHARE IN India's inward remittances almost doubled to 19.7% in FY24 from 10.2% in FY21, recovering from the post-pandemic decline in inflows from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. However, Maharashtra topped the list with 20.5% share in inward remittances in FY24, down from 35.2% in FY21, data from the RBI March Bulletin showed.
Other states also saw shifts in their remittance shares. Tamil Nadu's share increased to 10.4% from 9.7%, while Karnataka's rose to 7.7% from 5.2%. Punjab also witnessed growth, with its share rising to 4.2% in FY24 from 3% in FY21.
