EU Approves 102 New Fishery Units

IN A BOOST to India's seafood exports, the European Union (EU) has approved 102 additional fishery units for shipments, the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) said on Thursday.

This move is expected to help cushion the impact of US tariffs on India and help seafood exporters to make inroads into the European market.

The major markets for Indian marine products shipments in the EU are Belgium, Spain, and Italy. With the India-EFTA trade agreement commencing on October 1, it is also expected to enhance market access to other markets, including Norway and Switzerland.
