Govt plans to cut agri transportation costs

UNION MINISTER FOR agriculture and farmers’ welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Monday that the government is developing a new scheme to reduce the transportation cost of farm produce and ensure higher income for farmers.

Farmers sell their produce cheaply at the farm or nearby mandis as they cannot bear transport costs and take their produce to large markets in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, or Kolkata, he said.
