THE GST COUNCIL may take up for consideration a proposal to remove Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) on military transport aircraft and parts of defence equipment like air defence systems and fighter aircraft.
-
IGST is levied on imports in lieu of local taxes suffered by competing domestic products. A waiver for IGST is rate, and given only when domestic capacities are not in place, and imports are critical.
