Number of collectives crosses 10,000
The trend of an increasing number of farmers becoming shareholders in farmer producer organisations (FPOs) has boosted local aggregation. It has also resulted in a reduction in the cost of production due to economies of scale, a senior government official said.
In the last five years, over 5 million farmers have bought equity stakes in more than 10,000 FPOs.
