EV registrations surge 17% to nearly 2 million

ELECTRIC VEHICLE (EV) registrations in India touched 1.97 million units in FY25, driven primarily by strong growth in the two-wheeler and three-wheeler segments, according to data shared by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
This marks a 17% increase over FY24.
The adoption of electric powertrains was most prominent among two-wheelers, which continued to lead the EV transition within the automotive sector. Registrations of electric two-wheelers (e-2Ws) grew by 21% year-on-year to 1.15 million units in FY25. The segment's share in the overall two-wheeler market crossed the 6% mark during 2024-25.
