TCS sees human+AI as future work model

TATA CONSULTANCY SERVICES (TCS), the country's largest IT services provider, sees a future shaped by a collaborative "human plus AI" work model as enterprises accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

- URVI MALVANIA

Speaking at the company's annual general meeting (AGM) on Thursday, independent director Keki Mistry said AI, particularly generative AI (GenAI), is poised to change how work is done across sectors.

"These are early days of this promising technology. We do foresee scenarios where this new form of AI can perform some tasks autonomously that humans do today," Mistry said, adding that this will result in a new hybrid operating model combining human and AI capabilities.

Responding to shareholder concerns around the impact of AI and GenAI on employment, Mistry acknowledged that automation will inevitably affect some roles, but stopped short of giving any specific guidance on job losses.
