Nifty slips as Trump bares his fangs

TECHNICAL ANALYSIS
THE NIFTY TUMBLED 2.35% last week as Trump invaded Venezuela and proposed a 500% tariff on Indian exports to the US for buying Russian oil. Earlier on Friday (January 2), the Nifty had closed at an all-time high of 26,328.On Monday, it made a high of 26,373 and then kept tumbling each of the five trading days to close at 25,683.
Inthe fall, the Nifty broke through the supporting trendline (no. 85) constructed by joining the lows of 25,318 (November 7, 2025) and 25,693 registered on December 11. The trend-linewas breached on January 8, 2026, at a point of 25,996; it then closed at 25,876.On Friday, January 9, it made a low of 25,623 and closed at 25,683. This followup fall does not augur well.
