It can feel at the moment like the world is increasingly uncertain, with economic turmoil and increasing conflict, and here at home there's plenty that needs fixing in our own country.

But there are reasons to be cheerful too - let's not let the siren voices of division convince us that everything is terrible or that nothing can ever change. So here's some good news stories from the past few weeks.

There are green shoots of recovery in the NHS. It's delivered more then three million extra appointments, meaning that waiting lists have come down every month for the past six months.
