Working hard to make sure you stay safe on Bonfire Night

Given the time of year, it will be no surprise that I start by mentioning Bonfire Night and the work being undertaken to prevent the levels of disorder experienced in recent years.

- Chief Inspector Brian Manchester, Local Area Commander, South East

The South East has, for the most, not faced the same issues as other parts of the city. However, that does not mean that we are in any way immune and as part of Edinburgh Division's Operation Crackle, all ward areas are working with one another and key partners to deliver solutions that we hope will lead to a long-term reduction in fireworks-related criminality.

Through our collaboration with agencies across the city, we have supported a range of activities that aim to encourage young people to make positive choices that do not see them causing fear and alarm within their communities, or coming into contact with police.
