Man died on beach after being dragged out to sea by current

THE family of a Leicester man who died after reportedly getting into difficulty in the sea have paid tribute to him, saying he had been “so excited” about his first holiday with friends.

Aaron James Keightley died while having fun in the waves in Skegness on Monday, June 30.

The 29-year-old, from Beaumont Leys, was on holiday with his friends when the tragedy happened. His sister, Kayley Keightley, said that Aaron and his friends had been “just playing about jumping over waves in the sea when the waves got strong and after a while too strong [for Aaron to] stay on his feet”.

The 31-year-old said the waves “knocked them over and took them all into the sea where they all struggled to stay afloat.”

She said their struggle became much more serious, and Aaron, who was described by his sister as “not a strong swimmer”, was unconscious within minutes, she said.
