Operation Moonbeam swung into action on Friday to tackle crimes involving fireworks over the Bonfire Night period.

Launch Deputy Assistant Chief Officer Kenny Barbour SFRS and Assistant Chief Constable Tim Mairs Police Scotland with Minister for Victims and Community Safety Siobhain Brown MSP

It will include policing in Dumfries and Galloway.

Police Scotland said it is dedicating more resources than ever before for this period following previous public disorder incidents and an increased targeting of emergency services while they’re trying to do their jobs.

Public order officers will be supporting local policing divisions to tackle violence and disorder and dealing with fireworks-related crime - working to protect communities from harm.
