S1-3 pupils from Dumfries Academy had the opportunity to attend the Sky Academy Studios in Livingston.

They created their own news report using professional equipment and in working studios.

Not only did the pupils have fun but they had the chance to develop their creativity, communication and decision-making skills when working as part of a team.

Pupils worked in four different studios to make a wellbeing news report which had to focus on how physical activity and sport can improve physical and mental health.

Each pupil had an individual role which included: presenter, reporter, eyewitness, camera operator, director, producer, script writer and editor.

The pupils only had an hour and a half to create the report before it was broadcast on the big screen.

It was an outstanding news report and they were given a copy each to share with their friends and family.

FOOTBALL

The U16 football team played Wallace Hall Academy last week. It was an exciting game with both teams displaying great sportsmanship and determination.

Unfortunately, Dumfries Academy were beaten 3-0 however they did not give up and kept working hard until the final whistle.

Also, a special mention to Ruaridh Garton who refereed the match and to Blair Dickie and Dylan Torrance who were linesmen for the game.

All three Dumfries Academy senior pupils showed great leadership skills.

NETBALL

Dumfries Academy hosted Hamilton College for their second game of their S2 pool for the Scottish Schools Cup.
