Community projects given green light by Land Fund
Dumfries and Galloway Standard
|December 09, 2025
A trio of community projects across Dumfries and Galloway have been given an early Christmas present from the Scottish Land Fund.
An award of £151,615 will help Dumfriesshire's Penpont, Keir, Penpont and Tynron Development Trust purchase the Glebe Field from the Church of Scotland and develop it for nine affordable rental homes, allotments, a community green space and small business units.
Maureen Halkett, pictured below, said: “I am delighted on behalf of KPT Development Trust to acknowledge this award from the Scottish Land Fund. With it we will purchase land so that we can begin to fulfill one of the Trust’s key objectives of providing much needed affordable community housing and also community space and allotments.
“My thanks also goes to the Trust’s housing team who have led on this project and to the community who entrust us to continue to complete the vision.”
And there are celebration in Brydekirk where villagers will spend their award of £95,110 to purchase - through negotiated sale from a private seller - The Brig Inn.
