Council chiefs confirm this year’s arrangements
Bin collections over Christmas and the New Year will remain the same for 80 per cent of Dumfries and Galloway residents, claims the council.
However, there will not be any collections of household rubbish bins on Christmas Day (Thursday, December 25), Boxing Day (Friday, December 26); New Year's Day (Thursday, January 1) and Friday, January 2.
Alternative collections are being introduced which will see the Thursday collections (Christmas Day or New Year's Day) move to Saturday, December 27 and Saturday, January 3, for grey-lidded bins only and no recycling collections.
