Tale of two halves for Eustace as Rams lose out

DERBY County head coach John Eustace said his side were “nowhere near good enough” in the first half but believed their second-half display was enough for a point against Preston North End.

- By LEIGH CURTIS

The Rams slipped to a 1-0 defeat against the Lilywhites at Pride Park Stadium due to an Alfie Devine strike from distance which came during a meek 45-minute display by the hosts.

But the introduction of Patrick Agyemang made a huge difference for the Rams, as did a change of shape from a back three to a 4-2-3-1.

Agyemang was denied by onetime Rams target Daniel Iversen and also went close on another couple of occasions.

But Derby were ultimately made to pay for their first-half display and Eustace said: “I thought the first half was nowhere near good enough and we deservedly came in 1-0 down.
