Takeaway gets low score for 'unacceptable' hygiene issues

A DERBY takeaway voluntarily closed its doors and has been given a stern warning after receiving a one-star food hygiene score, the second-lowest available.

Environmental health inspectors visited the Oriental Inn Chinese takeaway in Dale Road, Spondon, after the department received a complaint from a customer claiming glass had been found in a takeaway meal.

Upon inspection, officers found no glass breakages or any potential source of a glass breakage, but they were “concerned” that the poor cleanliness and general clutter in the premises posed a high potential of contamination.

The complaint was closed, but inspectors said in a report the level of cleaning at the time of the visit was “unacceptable” and that it would “not be tolerated by this department”.
