Police's urgent warning to dog owners after rise in attacks on livestock

DERBYSHIRE police have issued a warning to dog owners to keep their dogs on leads after a spate of recent attacks on livestock.

- By SOPHIE BUSCIMESE

Numerous organisations have recently spoken out, warning local dog owners.

This comes after a dog attacked numerous sheep between Thursday, April 10, and Friday, April 11, in Edale on the footpath from Barber Booth towards Harden Clough, killing three sheep and badly injuring another one.

Derbyshire police's rural crime team said it was the third time the flock endured this “unnecessary carelessness”. They highlighted that the event could be traumatic for the farmer and their families, and result in large financial losses.
