Neolithic monuments to hearty walks - this village is a festive gem

Monyash, the civil parish a mere five miles west of Bakewell, offers peace and a wealth of countryside to discover over the cold winter months.

The traditional limestone village sits at the head of the tranquil Lathkill Dale, enveloped by stunning landscapes.

The area offers superb walking routes, with the Limestone Way running through the village, providing trails in all directions.

The Monyash Walk, spanning four miles across gates, steps, stiles and squeeze stiles, takes between one and two hours.

Despite some uneven ground as you navigate the dales, there are no steep climbs or descents, allowing for uninterrupted appreciation of the unrivalled views.

Another must-see natural attraction nearby is Arbor Low, a Neolithic henge monument nestled within the moorland.
