“MASSIVE changes” have been made to rectify Derby's bins crisis after more than 46,000 collections were missed in a month.

Craig Denmark is spearheading improvements within Derby City Council’s waste department after rubbish removals were missed at hundreds of streets.

The situation prompted huge concern and criticism, as well as a public apology from the council.

Mr Denmark, head of waste, told a council meeting on Monday night that his remit was to improve the service since joining the team in August.

He said radical changes have been made in recent months which have led to significantly reduced numbers after a “massive” 46,711 collections were missed in July.
