High Standard brings plenty of grandeur and good beer

It certainly feels posh, and, when I read a previous column from Derby's former Beerhunter, Colston Crawford, I saw one of the owners had said: "People told us it was like we had bought a little bit of London to Derby," and that hits the nail on the head completely.

The heat lamps apparently haven't been in use for a while now, according to a couple of regulars I spoke with, so I'd hope the pub manages to fix the issue before things can get any colder.

Another quick bit of research before writing this piece led to me to realise I'd made a big mistake.

Remember the staircase I mentioned that greets you as you walk through the door? That's actually a staircase to heaven as far as I'm concerned, one that leads you to a rooftop terrace that I presume overlooks the River Derwent.
