£150,000 TARGET IS £21,000 CLOSER THREE WEEKS AFTER WE PUT OUT AN APPEAL
DERBYSHIRE Children’s Holiday Centre in Skegness has taken a gigantic leap towards reopening next year.
Around £21,000 has been donated in the past three weeks since the Derby Telegraph joined the £150,000 Comeback Appeal 2026.
This means that there is another £21,000 to raise to get the appeal over the line - with a host of events lined up to help.
The charity, which was set up 134 years ago, gives much-needed breaks to disadvantaged children from across Derbyshire and relies solely on donations to keep going.
The trustees announced last week that it was likely that it would reopen for breaks from next April, providing the final £42,000 could be raised.
And thanks to your generous help and that of others, we are halfway there. The cash raised is ringfenced and will not be used to pay staff costs.
Chief executive Janine Holmes said: “It is amazing. The charity is very grateful to the Derby Telegraph which has asked readers to back its fundraising campaign.
The donations, which along with other tireless fundraising this year, has put the charity in a good place as it seeks to reopen in 2026.
