EAST Midlands Airport will be flying around 100,000 extra passengers next year as talks are underway to get people to more destinations from the site.

A major airline has already agreed that it will be basing one extra aircraft at the airport next year, with even more then set to be delivered over the coming five years.

A key part of the airport is being redesigned to accommodate four extra passenger aircraft stands overall and ahead of the growth in passengers, airport bosses are now focused on trying to get them to more destinations from the East Midlands.

The airport, which celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2025, currently connects to around 70 destinations in Europe and northern Africa.

Adam Andrews, recently appointed as the airport's new commercial director, says that connecting to more holiday markets will be the short-term focus.

The airport boss said: "Ultimately, we'll be governed by the data of where passengers are flying to and from, and that normally helps us to build really strong business cases to work with the airline partners to deliver on that growth.
