Derby Telegraph
|January 06, 2026
THE candidates for a Derbyshire County Council by-election prompted by the resignation of a Reform UK councillor have been announced.
-
Richard Morgan, who represented Horsley division, resigned in early November due to health issues. It came six months after his appointment in May 2025.
It was the second of two Reform resignations in a number of weeks, following the departure of Cllr Jack Bradley, cabinet member for education, due to personal reasons.
Mr Bradley’s Long Eaton North vacancy was filled after a by-election in early December, with Reform retaining it by a 23-vote margin.
The contest for the Horsley vacancy will be decided on Tuesday, January 20, with six candidates vying for the seat.
These, listed alphabetically by surname, as they appear on the ballot, are:
■John Cowings: Labour
Adrian Miller: Liberal Democrats
■Amanda Paget: Conservative
■Lian Pizzey: Green Party
■Juliette Stevens: Reform UK
