BURTON Albion suffered a first League loss in over a month as Leyton Orient inflicted a four-goal hammering on Gary Bowyer's men.

- By DAN NEWBOULD

The visitors overtook Albion in the League One table thanks to two goals in each half with no reply from an inform Brewers side stunned on their own turf.

The break enforced by the Exeter City postponement the previous weekend looked to really affect them as early goals from Aaron Connolly and Dom Ballard were added to by Azeem Abdulai and Charlie Wellens after the break.

And an injury to Brewers captain Udoka Godwin-Malife only added to the gloom.

Despite having a week off due to the Exeter postponement, Charlie Webster was unable to shake off the ankle injury he picked up in the 1-0 win over Blackpool a fortnight ago.

So the only changes from that game saw Dylan Williams take over from Webster, and Toby Sibbick replacing Jasper Moon after his return from international duty.

Orient made the brighter start as only 12 minutes in, former Brighton & Hove Albion and Sunderland striker Connolly broke down the left and squeezed his shot under Brad Collins into the net.

It was soon two shortly after when his strike partner Ballard added to the tally. Ballard applied the final touch following a well-worked move which led to a cross from Connolly.

It got worse for Burton as captain Godwin-Malifé went down for treatment and couldn't shake off the injury so had to be replaced by Terence Vancooten in the 37th minute.
