WORLD Rugby chief Alan Gilpin has defended the match officials from the second Test between Australia and the British & Irish Lions, amid backlash over a controversial refereeing decision.
The Lions secured a dramatic series win with a last-minute try by Hugo Keenan, but the Wallabies were upset about the lack of a penalty by ref Andrea Piardi against Lions flank Jac Morgan for an alleged high clear-out just beforehand.
