MUIZENBERG police have called on additional deployment into the informal settlement of Overcome Heights near Lavender Hill which has been riddled with gun violence this past week, leaving three people dead.
-
Gun violence has been ringing throughout the community this week, with five people shot on Saturday, with two fatalities, and it is believed that around 15 people were shot in the last week only as it has been “a busy week in the precinct”.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed the incident and said that police deployments have been bolstered with the Anti-Gang Unit and other law enforcement agencies to monitor the situation and to maintain law and order.
Twigg reports: “The deployments will focus on high density operations and visibility in order to restore calm to the area.
