THE Western Cape has been shaken by a hele 490 gang-related murders in just six months, an average of 83 deaths per month.
This was revealed by Police Minister Firoz Cachalia during a National Assembly mini-plenary titled “The scourge of gun violence and the killing of innocent children and adults in the Cape Flats communities”.
The statistics are grim: 23 children under 18 were killed, and almost 120 minors were shot, reflecting the devastating human toll of gang violence.
