TOON ARE TWO GOOD

NEWCASTLE turned on the style in Brussels on a European glory night for Eddie Howe's Toon stars.

In a game that had been deemed a tough mission against the Belgian Pro League champions, the goals flowed like a fine Belgian beer.

Anthony Gordon slotted home two penalties, Nick Woltemade added another goal to his blossoming tally, and super sub Harvey Barnes got in on the act late on.

The margin of victory was Newcastle's largest in the Champions League proper and their biggest away win in major European competition since beating Sochaux 4-0 in the UEFA Cup in November 2004.

It could have been more, with Sandro Tonali denied a goal at the very end by a fine save from Kjell Scherpen.
