However, a tragedy led Sally and her husband Jonathan Bigg, an ex-800m runner, to get their own health checks - with unexpected results.

She explains: “It was a huge wake-up call when a close friend of ours, someone fit, healthy, and just 61, died suddenly of a heart attack.

“He was someone we'd just been cycling with the week before. No warning signs, nothing. It really brought home to me that being active and healthy on the outside doesn’t always reflect what's happening inside.

“After that, I was determined to get a clearer picture of my own health, so I booked a comprehensive health check with a company called Bluecrest.”
