Kelly hails assist queen Alessia for super show

CHLOE KELLY hailed England teammate Alessia Russo after the striker’s record-breaking display fired up England’s defence of their Euros crown.

Lauren James scored twice in the Lionesses’ 4-0 over Holland, but Russo was named player of the match after registering three assists.

It is the first time a player has achieved the feat at the Euros since the stat began being recorded in 2013.

"Unbelievable," said Kelly of Russo's performance. "On the ball, off the ball, she works so hard, and she probably did deserve a goal.

"But three assists? I think she'll be happy with that."

Russo's first assist came for James’ opener, though goalkeeper Hannah Hampton has also earned plaudits for her stunning ball out from the back to find the striker.
