Royle Family star kept shirt filthy to get into character

RICKY Tomlinson has revealed his secret to playing Jim Royle - not washing his polo shirt.

The 85-year-old star said keeping the yellow top mucky was a “method acting thing” that helped him get into character as the slobbish head of the Royle Family.
He even went as far as hiding it from cleaning staff in a bid to keep it as grubby as possible.
